Digital Photo Frames
Digital Photo Frames are an ideal corporate gift due to their high end appeal and ability to be both a corporate gift and a powerful marketing tool. A digital photo frame consists of an LCD panel, Circuit board, Memory Card Slot and encasement to protect the screen.
Digital Photo Frames come in various sizes ranging from 1.5" Key Rings all the way up to 19" Advertising players. Digital Photo Frames as Corporate Gifts are most popular as 7" Frames. This is the most common sized frame in general aswell, meaning prices can be extremely competitive from the right provider.
Digital Photo Frames are measured by the diagonal measurement of the LCD screen. Be wary of any company who tries to measure frames by their overall size as this will provide you with a much smaller viewing screen and will not be cost effective.
Digital Photo Frames come by many names: Digital Picture Frames, Digital Photo Picture Frames, Digital Frames, LCD Picture Frames, LCD Digital Photo Frames, LCD Digital Picture Frames or Electric Photo Frames. These are all the same product as fall under the most common name of Digital Photo Frame.
The Quality of a digital photo frame will depend on 3 things. The resolution, the brightness of the screen and the contrast ratio.
Resolution: Most 7" screens have a resolution of 480x234. Any digital photo frame that has more pixels will have a better quality screen and any screen with less pixels will have a worse quality screen. Be aware though that as frames get bigger they require a larger resolution to compensate for the bigger sized screen. I.E most 10" frames have a resolution of 640x480 and even though this sounds like a better quality screen it is most likely very similar to a 7" screen with a resolution of 480x234.
Brightness: The brighter the screen the better it will cope with direct sunlight and reflection from other surfaces. Frames which are too dark will also struggle to show the full colour range of a particularly nice photograph
Contrast Ratio: The larger the contrast ratio the more variations of colour that digital photo frame can pick out. If you are looking for the best picture possible you will want as big a contrast ratio as possible.
Other things to look out
Viewing Angles: Ask the specific viewing angles of a digital photo frame as this will let you know what positions in the room can see the photograph shown on the screen
Internal Memory: Does the frame have an internal memory, if it does you can transfer photos directly onto it and continue looking at them after your memory card has been taken out. If the frame does not have internal memory you may wish to buy a spare memory card to keep in your frame so that when the take your card out to put back into your camera you can still enjoy your photos.
Will the frame autostart: This needs to be asked if you are looking to put a corporate message onto your digital photo frames. You want this message to be read when it is turned on and if it doesnt automatically start this message might be lost for ever.
Will the frame loop the slideshow or video: This question is particularly important to ask if the digital photo frame is being used to showcase videos or material that you wish to loop through throughout the day. Â
